I simply cannot say enough about the Gail Gibson Series! My children really love her books and using the Notebook Companions to go along with them. We continue to the next book when we finish one and this was a topic I never would have thought about before finding the Notebook Companions. Both my kindergartner and 3rd grader enjoyed this book. This topic goes into great detail all the work and types of jobs that go into building a home. The conversation continued after about possible career paths and of course, more books about building 🙂

At first glance, I thought this book and notebook companion seemed too basic. But wow! There is a lot of technical information inside. Like “what happens when the concrete becomes hard” or what in the world is “footing” and the use of “foundation” in houses? Kids will be introduced to jobs such as “septic crew” and “heating specialists”. You will learn a lot about building houses! In the last part, kids will learn about “Louise Blanchard Bethune” and so much more information. (Me: “Who in the world is he?!” Even I get to absorb tons from this wonderful combination. There is a part about traditional Japanese carpentry that interests me already.)

The notebook has extra big ruled lines and many spaces for drawing. And since this is geared towards younger children, coloring pages are found at the back. I highly recommend this product!
