Preparing Your Heart for Easter is suitable for children in grades K-4 but can easily be done with the whole family. There are short devotions with discussion questions, room for journaling/written narration (optional for young children), Scripture memory cards, and Easter story cards.

The ten short devotions in this study use an easy-to-read conversational tone that is designed to engage young children and help them understand what is being discussed. The devotions explore the themes of death and life using illustrations from both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Each day’s devotion includes a Scripture memory verse for children to commit to heart. Printable Scripture memory cards make reviewing the verses easy and convenient.
Family Discussion
Each day’s devotion also includes discussion questions for you and your children to reflect on. A written narration section (optional for younger children) gives space for your child to journal their thoughts on what you read and share together.
Easter Story Cards
We’ve also included twenty full-color Easter story cards that you can use to illustrate the Easter story as you read it together or that your children can use to help them retell the story.

I have tried a few different Easter devotionals for kids and really enjoyed the 2-week devotional from Daily Skill Building. It has a daily scripture reading for each day as well as a scripture memory verse for each day. The devotional portions are short enough for the littlest of listeners, but still captivating enough for older kids and adults alike. With my little kids, we may only go through the story cards right now, but can easily add to that with the daily devotional and narration portions. I like that there were flash cards included for the scripture memory verses and it’s easier to keep those handy on a daily basis for review. I also love that there are Easter story cards to retell the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus. I think I would have preferred if the scriptures that coordinate with each of the story cards would have been printable on the back of each card to make it easier to reference, but it was very nice to have the references provided. I got this after Easter this year so haven’t had a chance to go through it with my kids yet, but am excited to do this next year. My daughter will likely want me to put magnetic strips on the backs of the story cards so she can place them up on our white board. Thank you for the wonderful resource, keeping Him first and another reminder for us to look up.
