This American history-themed copywork unit is a fun way to combine history and handwriting practice. Students will practice their penmanship while studying the Mayflower Compact, William Bradford’s account of the first Thanksgiving excerpted from Of Plymouth Plantation, Governor Bradford’s Thanksgiving speech, President George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation of 1789, President Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation of 1863, and “The Landing of the Pilgrim Fathers” by Felicia Dorothea Hemans. Print copywork totals 78 pages; cursive copywork totals 81 pages.
