We are loving this Series and will be purchasing other volumes for our younger kids! This is very well done, words are level appropriate. It is set up for 36 weeks and to be done over 5 days. We travel a lot so this has been perfect for us to take on the go! This can also be done with little supervision and your child can work on this alone, which has been perfect as my child has been wanting more more of that. You would need access to a thesaurus online or a physical copy. We also have the Vocabulary Companion as it goes along with this nicely.

I have been curious about the Daily Skill Building Spelling series. The process is very straightforward. You just start with the first word and follow the instructions–it is that simple. Your child would need a thesaurus with this curriculum to search for the synonyms and antonyms of each spelling word. This is the work assigned for the first day. On the second day, the student copies the words repetitively to memorize their spelling. On the third day, the copywork is copying the definitions. Then there is the paragraph writing to practice using the spelling words. On the fourth and fifth days, it is about ensuring the student knows the spelling words by doing independent testing.
This curriculum is for the child who loves answering and doing a lot of writing. It encourages independent work throughout. The mom/dad just needs to facilitate and look over the work if needed. The spelling level is for grade 8, but I think a very well-read younger child can tackle this as well.
I love the choice of words! How I wish we had something similar to this when I was in school. This is one way to introduce new vocabulary words to your student.
