Product Description

Learn to draw a horse using a design from Swedish culture.

Drawing a horse is difficult, but children love horses and love drawing them. The Swedish Cultural Center in Seattle, Washington, has a huge collection of the famous carved wooden horses, the Dala horses. Fortunately, these horses are stylized in such a way that they are EASY to draw, and they look very horse-like!

After the drawing warm-up, the lesson gives enough guidance to make sure that student drawings look satisfyingly like a horse. Then, after studying a number of Swedish folk art patterns, students will create their own original pattern as they finish the horse.

This lesson includes both POWERPOINT and VIDEO versions of the lesson plus 2 downloadable printouts: a warmup and a drawing of the horse.

Families will have access to the online lesson for one year from the date of purchase.
