Truths Unfolded, a Master Books Notebook Companion™
Truths Unfolded is a publisher-approved Notebook Companion™ for Foundational Truths: A Modern Catechism by Israel Wayne, published by Master Books (sold separately) and is designed for middle school and high school students ages 11-18.
Many activities include a choice between writing and drawing or illustrating so you can choose the assignments that fit your student the best.
Truths Unfolded includes:
- Truths Unfolded: Notebook Companion™
- Scripture Memory Cards to help students study nearly 300 Bible verses and choose some each week to commit to heart
- Vocabulary Cards to help students learn the meaning of more than 150 terms found in the verses studied
- 28-Week Lesson Plan that can easily be adjusted to whatever length fits your family
Each unit begins with a question from Foundational Truths: A Modern Catechism and asks the student to copy the question and the answer. Each answer incorporates multiple Scripture passages. Next, they can copy the verses referenced into their notebook or onto Scripture memory cards. The verses are provided from the King James Version, but students may choose whatever version your family prefers. They can also make note of and copy additional verses they know or can find that relate to the topic.
Following the verses is a vocabulary assignment that focuses on three words from the King James Version of the Scripture verses. Definitions are provided in Foundational Truths: A Modern Catechism. Students can choose between copying the definitions onto their notebook pages or Vocabulary Cards or illustrating the meaning of the vocabulary terms on the Vocabulary Cards. They can also choose to do both assignments if preferred.
The remaining activities focus on application. Students can read the prayer for each unit provided in Foundational Truths: A Modern Catechism and then choose to either write their own prayer or illustrate the provided prayer.
Finally, they can reflect on the “In Action” section of each unit in Foundational Truths: A Modern Catechism and record their thoughts regarding the steps they took or did not take to apply the verses studied to their lives. They can also record any questions or thoughts they have concerning the topic that they would like to discuss with a parent.
The entire course concludes with an activity that encourages students to consider and reflect on all they have studied and ponder additional questions they may have.
