Proven Results

We’ve heard from so many homeschool families who are seeing real growth in their student’s vocabulary and confidence. Kids love the format, and parents love how easy it is to implement!

My daughter had a perfect score in vocabulary on her standardized tests this year. I am owing that vocabulary score specifically to your curriculum she used this year!
She loved using it. She thought it was actually fun. It kept her engaged. Her personal vocabulary has exploded in every day usage and it is obviously reflected in those scores – 100%! – Lindsey Stomberg

A strong vocabulary is key to success in reading, writing, and life. With Daily Skill Building: Vocabulary, your student will build a rich vocabulary, gain confidence in their communication, and strengthen their academic foundation—all in just 10–15 minutes a day!

It’s simple. It’s effective. And it works.

How It Works

Each week, your student will learn four new vocabulary words—one word per day, Monday through Thursday. On Friday, they’ll complete a short review to help them remember and apply what they’ve learned.

For each word, your child will:

  • Look up and write the definition using a dictionary or glossary
  • Use the word in a complete sentence
  • List synonyms and antonyms

At the end of every four-week unit, there’s a more in-depth review. This includes a fun writing activity that builds on the words they’ve learned. Younger students (grades 1–3) will write two sentences and draw a picture, while older students (grades 4–12) will write longer responses to reinforce vocabulary and writing skills.

You can adjust the pace too! If you want to go faster, simply do more than one word per day.

What’s Included

  • 144 vocabulary words over 36 weeks
  • Easy-to-follow, daily lessons
  • Weekly reviews
  • Unit reviews every four weeks
  • Glossary of all vocabulary words
  • Printable vocabulary cards
  • List of suggested synonyms and antonyms for each vocab word

The glossary provides definitions of all 144 words in the order they’re taught. Your student can use this as a quick reference or practice looking up the words in a dictionary. We recommend the Webster’s For Students Dictionary/Thesaurus set as well as thesaurus.com and dictionary.com.

Synonyms & Antonyms Cheat Sheet

As vocabulary becomes more advanced in Levels 9–12, finding accurate synonyms and antonyms can be challenging. To support students, we’ve included a helpful reference guide with suggested synonyms and antonyms for each word. This optional tool is perfect for checking work, getting unstuck, or deepening understanding—while still encouraging students to think critically and try on their own first.

Vocabulary Cards for Extra Practice

We’ve also included two styles of printable vocabulary cards to help reinforce learning.

  1. One version includes the word and its definition
  2. The other version is blank, so your child can write the definition themselves

These cards are great for review games, flashcard practice, or even group work with siblings. You can laminate them for durability and keep them handy throughout the year.

No Teacher’s Guide Needed

Daily Skill Building: Vocabulary is designed to be truly independent. There’s no need for a separate teacher’s guide or complicated instructions. Just hand it to your child and let them get started!

The lessons are short, consistent, and designed to build strong study habits. Your student will not only improve their vocabulary, but also learn how to research, think critically, and express themselves more clearly in writing and conversation.

Add the Spelling Companion

Want to expand the learning? Pair your vocabulary lessons with the Daily Skill Building: Spelling Companion. It aligns with the vocabulary words and offers extra spelling practice using engaging, meaningful activities. It’s a great way to reinforce what your student is already learning.

This is a simple way to integrate vocabulary into our lessons. I wish there was a recommended thesaurus to help my daughter find the antonyms, but overall it’s a great resource for her. I love that there is a review at the end of each week to help solidify the words into her mind.

I absolutely love this vocabulary book. The lay-out is well done and easy for my 7 year old to navigate. She really enjoys her vocabulary word of the day and looking up the synonyms and antonyms. I loved it so much that we also got the Vocabulary book for my 13 year old who also enjoys learning new words each day.

My daughter used the 2nd grade Daily Skill Building vocabulary curriculum last year. She loved it! The lay-out is very well done. It is easy to use and also easy to add it into any language arts program.

I like how the writing has two different sizes, so it gives two different focuses. It has the lined upper sections which helps focus the writer on proper technique and the smaller sections at the bottom to help the writer learn to adapt the size of their writing to the space given.

The one word a day approach with synonyms and antonyms looks like an easy, gentle way to learn vocabulary without adding a lot of extra time to your school day. Win-win for everyone.

I love the repetition & simplicities as compared to other vocabulary curricula. It looks like it would be very easy to add into our day & all my kids need something like this.
