Trains are an integral part of society, but they have not been around for as long as kids might think. Learning About Trains and Trains, sold separately, introduce kids to the earliest trains and the kind of engines they had.

After introducing steam engines and diesel engines, the books move on to electric trains. But how a train runs is only part of the story. It’s also important for kids to understand why trains are important and the different kinds of trains we have today, such as passenger trains and freight trains.

You don’t have to do any prep-work. Just grab a copy of Learning About Trains and Trains, sold separately, and explore them together at the speed that works for you.

Some Things Students Learn

Your kids will discover parts of a passenger train such as the dining car, Pullman car, and coach. They’ll also discover parts of a freight train including the flatcar, refrigerator car, open hopper car, covered hopper car, piggyback car, boxcar, tank car, gondola car, three-level rack car, and caboose.

Students can sharpen their written narration skills as they answer open-ended questions about what they are learning. They’ll also get to draw, sketch, and label various illustrations of trains, train cars, and more. Bonus coloring pages are also included!
